HRT News

HRT News was a client/server product that gave you access to DowVlsion and other real-time news feeds on workstations running NEXTSTEP. Features of HRT News included: real-time article profiling on text, headline and meta-data; full-text searching on headlines and article text; and meta-data searching. Profiling tools, article search tools, scrolling live headlines and an article reader were all accessible through an intuitive interface. You could easily build extremely complex profiles to select what headlines were displayed in each headline window. Attributes such as color and sound can be set for news stories fitting a selected profile. The server performed real-time feed handling, maintenance of databases and client communication. It contained a 180-day news database.

For custom applications, an object-oriented developer's kit was available. It contained objects to handle article profiling, searching and communication with the server, allowing you to integrate real-time news into any application. HRT News was feed-independent and would support other news feeds.
