IPT Mac to Next Connectivity
uSHare and Partner were the premier solution for
networking NeXTStep with Macintosh computers. Partner
provided NeXTStep users with the only available
bidirectional file-sharing and printing produce on the
market at that time. If cross-platform connectivity and
interoperability was a concern, Partner was the best
solution. Partner gives NeXTStep users access to AppleShare
volumes and published Macintosh System 7 volumes. Simply
select the NET directory, AppleTalk*, the desired AppleTalk
Zone and finally the desired Macintosh volume. Macintosh
files would appear as just another folder. With Partner
Plus, a NeXTStep computer could function as an AppleSharc
file server and printing was bidirectional.
In addition. Macintosh print jobs were spooled to the
NeXTStep computer, allowing the Macintosh to get back to
work quickly. Partner Plus also provided a simple e-mail
interface, allowing die Macintosh to reach out to anywhere
the NeXTStep computer would reach.
