Terminal emulation software
Key to NeXt adoption in the high tech arena was it's ability to communicate with everything on the planet, as evidenced by the complete list of connections to every significant mini and mainframe available. The software in this section provided NeXTStep users with terminal emulation and network protocols for vendors' mini and mainframe computers, for the following terminal standards:
ANSII
Data General DASHER
Digital Dec VT100, VT220 and VT320
IBM 3270, 5250
Tandem 6530
Tektronix 4010/4014
UNISYS
UNIX tty, pty, telnet client; remote serial port use; X-, Y- and ZModem; Kermit
Videotex Datex-J
Since they were in no mainframe vendor's camp and could communicate to all, a person with a NeXTStation had the bridge to all islands of data across an organization. At the time, this was a unique and strategic place to be.
