eXTRASET
eXTRASET was a technical publishing output solution that was awarded Best of Breed in the peripherals category by NeXTWORLD magazine. eXTRASET combined the eXTRASET software and a Goldleaf Imagesetter, built on Linotype Hell's ULTRE engine, eXTRASET used NEXTSTEP's Display PostScript Level 2 to perform Raster Image Processing (RIP) internally, eliminating the need for a standalone RIP.
eXTRASET supported resolutions from 600 to 3,000 dpi and offered the user complete control over system memory usage, positive or negative images, line screening and most other features supported by page layout applications. Pages were processed as a background function so production didn't come to a standstill during output. eXTRASRT worked directly with Linotype-Hell's Signastation to produce fully imposed flats for the Goldleaf Imagesetter.
eXTRACAL, also from GS Corporation, could be used to calibrate the output from your Goldleaf Imagesetter and all your color output devices.
