PaperSight Light

PaperSight
PaperSight personal digital file cabinet was a system for scanning, viewing, annotating, organizing, filing, and retrieving of documents.

Finding Documents

The index of the current cabinet was displayed in the find panel. A document was found by typing the index word followed by a carriage return or by double-clicking on the word in the index list. This caused the the first text note found to be displayed beneath the index. If other text notes were found they could be displayed with the arrow buttons. When the desired note was found the page with the note could be displayed with the "Show" button.

Scanning and Importing Documents

New documents could be created by scanning pages from the PaperSight scan panel. The scan panel also allowed you to import PostScript files. A document could be appended to if it is first displayed.

Pages could be moved about in documents and between documents using Document Cut, Copy, and Paste Page.

Text and Sound Notes

When a document was displayed, a tools palette could be brought up with the Tools... command in the main menu. Text notes were added by dragging them from their well onto the document. This caused an empty text note to be displayed to which you could add new text.

Sound notes could be added the same as Text Notes. A low impedance microphone needed to be attached to the microphone jack on the NeXT display.

Overlays

Any note, including markups, were written on overlays. Every page had one overlay. Overlays could be made visible or invisible with the hide and show overlay commands. If you found you have a document with multiple overlays, it was probably created on the professional version of PaperSight .
