megatelVISOR
megatelVISOR was a type of geographical information system based on the principle of distributed applications with interfaces to SQL database and text processing. Point on your map, air photo, or technical drawing and get [he information from your relational database.
You could scroll scanned images of arbitrary size - for example, a multi-gigabyte TIFF file - which scroll speed independent of size, megatelVISOR lets you use overlay and zoom and draw colored objects in different layers above a background from another application.
The megatelVISOR VIEWER was a hybrid vector/raster front-end. The VIEWER exchanges messages with other applications via TCP/IP, including external control of viewing functions, drawing and editing objects and noticing mouse selections. Use selections for application functionality, such as database queries and analysis operations. Example applications are city and traffic planning, command systems, technical documentation, facility management, and electronic maps in combination with the satellite-based Global Positioning System.
The megatelVISOR TOOLBOX enables speedy preparation of scanned TIFF images as background for the VIEWER. The .DXF format could be imported as vector objects or converted to raster images. Academic discounts were available.
