CaseServ
CaseServ was a desktop software solution designed to proactively support the rapidly changing managed care contracting requirements of healthcare providers. The product represents the first provider-based managed care system built from scratch in a UNIX client/server architecture which ensured scalability from the smallest institution to the largest.
CaseServ supported all daily activities of an institution's key managed care individuals on their desktops, including sophisticated provisions for capturing and calculating the financial implications of all contract terms (prior, current, or under negotiation) on the institution's bottom line.
Extensive calendaring and contact management functionality helped organize over-stressed resources. Complex capitation management system functionality was an integral part of the product, an industry first. Case management issues were accommodated through the use of electronic eligibility requests and treatment authorizations via fax or electronic mail as a standard feature of the system. Significant quality monitoring was provided on a case-by-case basis, as well as at an aggregate level, as a by-product of case financial profiles, critical pathways and patient treatment protocols. Decision support and profitability analysis through user-defined product lines, cost allocations and business units was fully supported.
Once implemented, CaseServ provided on-line access to a central database of critical contract information throughout the institution, thereby ensuring communication between all interested parties. Properly implemented, CaseServ provided a significant competitive advantage in the highly competitive and volatile managed care area.
