LUMISCAN 50, 75, 100, 150 and 200 laser film digitizers

All five LUMISCAN high-resolution laser film digitizers were in fact scanning densitometers, distinguished by their unique ability to measure true density over a wide range. Lumisys's then product line consisted of five individual models, distinguished by their unique ability to measure true density over a wide range.

In addition to providing the then best available density resolution and precision, all LUMISCAN systems were easy to use and self-calibrating—almost no operator interaction was required other than inserting the film. LUMISCAN digitizers were the ideal solution for translating films into the digital domain for image processing and manipulation, teleradiology, archiving and reprinting.

The LUMISCAN 100 included variable spot sizes and variable spatial resolution; the glass stage allows films to be scanned at various resolution settings and areas of the film could be accurately specified and scanned. The LUMISCAN 100 was the best system for demanding situations, such as research or ultra high-resolution scanning.

The LUMISCAN 150 was a fixed-resolution scanner designed for most clinical applications—image distribution within a facility, teleradiology, low-volume archiving and film copying. A variable spot size feature could be added as an option.

The LUMISCAN 200 included variable spot sizes, variable spatial resolution and an automatic film handler that accepted up to 70 films of various sizes from 8" x 10" to 14" x 17". A bar code reader was optional,

The LUMISCAN 50 was a compact, low-cost laser film digitizer designed for low- to mid-priced teleradiology applications.

The LUMISCAN 75, though similar to the LUMISCAN 50 in its compact packaging design, offers higher resolution in combination with a faster scan speed. These features were targeted to meet the more stringent requirements of diagnostic teleradiology and the mid-range medical image distribution markets.

Incorporating industry-standard SCSI interfaces, LUMISCAN scanners could typically be integrated into a complete NEXTSTEP-based imaging solution by VARs or systems integrators.
