Simon Says...

SIMONSAYS
Simon Says allowed you to control your computer by voice commands. Simon could be trained to your voice, no matter what your language, dialect, or accent. One voice command could execute a sequence of actions. For example, just say "Mail Mary" and Simon could open Mail, address a letter to Mary and sign it for you. Version 2.0 features include:

  • A more intuitive user interface
  • More macro event types
  • The ability to save and load macro sets

Imagine launching applications, sending mail, copying and pasting text, changing font attributes and sizes, paging through a document, picking tools off a pallette and more. All by voice!

Training Simon Says was quick and easy. Just select an application and Simon automatically generated a vocabulary corresponding to the command keys in the applications menus. You could train Simon to recognize his new vocabulary by simply responding to on-screen prompts. You would be asked to repeat each word in your list three times. When you had finished, Simon was ready to respond to your voice!

Simon Says... included objects for building voice activated macros which included keystrokes, mouse events, pasteboard libraries, sound libraries, UNIX shell commands and NeXTMail. It was easy to create sophisticated macros that could be activated by one simple voice command or phrase

No special hardware was required. Simon Says... utilizds the built-in microphone input on all NeXT
