TimeSync

TimeSync provided automated, accurate time synchronization with the national time standards for computers running NEXTSTEP. All computer clocks drift, so updating your computer's system time was a task that must be performed on a regular basis. Not only was this a tedious procedure, but it's also one that was very easy to forget. TimeSync helped you automate this process by using a 1200-baud Hayes-compatible modem to call the time services provided by the U.S. Naval Observatory and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Once installed, TimeSync automatically called and adjusts the computer clock for you. You would never have to worry about clock inaccuracies again. TimeSync messaged your e-mail system to let you know it was still working.

TimeSync worked with a network so that your network server could also be your time server for synchronized system clocks.
